Full description

The Birman is usually calm, people-oriented and happy to take part in household life without being constantly demanding. It may live successfully with respectful children or compatible animals after gradual introductions. Daily play and climbing opportunities remain important even for this relaxed breed. Its silky coat has relatively little undercoat but still needs regular gentle combing to prevent knots and reduce swallowed hair.
