Full description

The Sokoke originated from a small population of cats associated with coastal Kenya and remains uncommon worldwide. It is generally described as athletic, intelligent and engaged with familiar people while retaining an alert, independent side. Daily climbing, active play and secure exploration are important. Its short coat requires little grooming. Because the breeding population is limited, documented ancestry, temperament and genetic diversity should take priority over markings alone.

Characteristic details
Health 4/5 Reliable breed-specific health data for the Sokoke are limited. Heart, kidney and dental health should be monitored as in other adult cats, without assuming exceptional robustness from natural-breed status. Recommended preventive care includes cardiac and kidney assessment where family history indicates risk, dental care, healthy weight management and breeding decisions that preserve genetic diversity.
