Full description

The Afghan Hound is a fast, agile hunting breed with an independent temperament and a strong chase response. It may be affectionate with familiar people while remaining reserved or selective about handling. Daily exercise and secure opportunities to run are essential, and recall cannot be assumed around wildlife. The adult coat requires frequent thorough grooming, careful bathing and drying and significant time to prevent painful mats.
