Full description

The Basenji is a clean, athletic and highly curious dog with an independent mind and a strong prey drive. It is often described as quiet because it rarely gives a conventional bark, but it communicates through yodels and other vocalisations. Daily exercise, mental enrichment, secure spaces and patient training are essential. Recall can remain unreliable around wildlife, so safe management matters more than expecting automatic obedience.
