Full description

The Saint Bernard is a very large, slow-maturing dog that often forms a patient and devoted bond with its family. Its size demands early training, controlled growth, secure handling and realistic planning for transport, food and veterinary costs. Moderate daily exercise is important, but heat and strenuous activity must be avoided. Both coat varieties shed, drool and require routine grooming, while interactions with children need supervision simply because of the dog's weight and strength.
