Full description

The Shiba Inu is intelligent, agile and often deeply attached to its household while remaining reserved or selective in social situations. It responds best to patient, reward-based training that respects its independent nature. A strong prey drive and unreliable recall make secure fencing and lead management essential. Early socialisation and careful introductions are important around unfamiliar dogs, smaller animals and children, while the dense double coat sheds heavily at certain times of year.
